Fitting DSG Gear selector Repair kit

Post by golffather »

Glad to see the forum still active !

Got the dreaded Selecter in P contact workshop error

VW now do a repair kit 5q0713128a which is for the DQ250's, Golfs skodas seats etc
However on drive.ru also have seen it fitted to the DQ200 7 speeds too.

I dont have access to my car right now
Can someone do me a favour please and remove their dsg gear cover and see if they can see and access the gear selector plug?
Plug is on the front side and looks like this

ANy pics would help!

Or will I need to remove the whole console...

CHeers!

The easiest way is probably to find the factory repair manual for your car on VW Erwin. It is usually well illustrated

Yes thanks buddy already have elsawin
This is not an official repair procedure for the 6R/6C

Was thinking if someones replaced their centre console recently and has pics or has replaced their gear shift boot, they might still have pics which would help for now

What do you mean, elsawin isn't the official repair manual? It really is... it will show you the procedure to remove the DSG selector mechanism in perfect detail. To remove the plug, you will have to remove the centre console. Or have very very small hands.

Just to update the thread:

1). You must remove the entire centre console inc handbrake cover to fit this repair kit. No half jobs will help,

2). Although the repair kit 5q0713128a is not listed for the Polo 6R/6C, it does actually fit as all DQ200 use the same top part of the housing for the shifter mechanism.

3) The microswitch housing and cables are a tight fit due to the cup holder moulding of the Polo centre console - take care how you position the final cables

4) Save yourself £900 and feel smug

Excuse the poor pic, but was late, dark and wet.
