Head Restraint adjustment button

Post by albert_j »

Hi,

First post here so forgive me if I have done anything wrong

I recently purchased a 2015 VW Polo and while I did do an inspection before purchasing, I missed that the seat adjustment button is missing for the drivers side.

I managed to get it to go back down by jamming a screwdriver in to push the mental prongs, but does anyone know how I can go about fixing this? Can I purchase this as a part? it is an easy fix?

Thanks

Looking at the diagram at the link below, those head restraint guides do have their own part numbers so I would think you can purchase them separately.

As for removal and replacing - the instructions at the link below suggest it’s necessary to remove the seat and then the backrest and seat backrest cover, so it’s certainly more than a 5-10 minute job.

I remember removing these headrest tubes on my wife's old Fiesta so that I could retro fit seat back nets, and it was just a case of using a large screwdriver to twist/rotate the tubes by maybe 90 degrees and ease them up and out. I have not read that VW instruction link though - I can't see that most of these head rest guides being very different across the mainland Europe based car manufacturers.
