New Clutch Suggestions?

Post by GTI_Guy »

So I've got a 2016 GTI with 30k miles and am experiencing some clutch slip. It's had a remap (racingline stage 1 tune) and the slip has of course worsened. Its a daily driver so I'm looking for organic / something that feels OEM.

Just wondering whether anyone has any suggestions for a new clutch kit?

I'm thinking either the Sachs organic:

The CG Motorsport DUAL FRICTION CLUTCH KIT:

https://clutch-specialists.co.uk/collec ... ja-6-speed

OR, the RTS Clutch - Twin-Friction Clutch Kit:

Has anyone got any experience with these?

the sachs organic is a heavy clutch.

the RTS has been changed and can now sound like a helicopter when idling.

cg i have not seen before.

there is also an option of fitting a TTRS clutch that gives a more oem like feel but has a higher torque rating

Which TTRS clutch? Didn't know that was an option.

Looking at a clutch and flywheel in the near future and the Sachs organic with a new flywheel is around a grand in just parts.

not sure which generation of TTRS fits but i believe it uses the clutch and pressure plate and the stock flywheel. Some holes need to be enlarged but other than that it should be a strait swap.

midland VW have fitted a few to some polo GTIs

The TT RS clutch would be a monster but i havent had much luck finding anymore details of that.

I guess stock VW clutch is the only way to get the OEM feel and function, right?

midland vw supply a kit but others ive seen say that the friction plate doesn't fit which is confusing if it's part of the kit.

With the TTRS clutch you only use the pressure plate, the clutch disc do not fit the splines of the QQR Gearbox input shaft, so you need only the pressure plate of ttrs and the standard polo clutch disc(240mm)
