Door handle wont open from outside.

Firs post and my first car. Polo 5dr 2010.
The passenger door handle wont open from the outside.
It was working and functioning as it should for the past month. Then stopped yesterday.
It works and opens ok from the inside. Both the key fob and locking button(on the inside of the drives side door) works ok. The door handle feels slightly different to the others.
I've taken the handle off and all looks OK with the handle catching the hook on the inside. Not sure if this is slipping off when the handle goes back in but it looks in place.
Any advice on what I can try to do to fix. Hopefully a DIY fix is all that's needed and not a garage job. Many thanks.

Sounds like a broken cable. Does it have any resistance when you pull it?

The handle when pulled feels the same as the others. It has resistance when pulled, it just doesn't unlock the door from the outside.
I've been reading on forums that the cause might be to do with the auto-lock system. I pressed the auto lock button as normal the others day, then after unlocking it, the issue happened.
I've also had the door panel off today but this looked like a sealed door with no access panel behind the removed door panel.

Okay. Well it's either the lock module itself or the cable that snapped. If you do feel resistance, i'm leaning towards the lock itself rather than the handle.

That would be the window regulator mech you can see once the interior panel has been removed, to access the door lock module you need to remove this and the glass first

The glass can stay in place. Just remove the plastic cover.

When I removed the door panel, I was expecting to see an access panel that needed unbolting but, nothing. It looks to be just one piece of metal with no access.
I will have to remove again and take pictures and poat up(should of taken on first removal) thanks.
