My VW Polo 9n Overheating

Post by VinnieRgk »

Hi guys, I drive a 2005 Polo and on Sunday I took it to a car wash so after they had washed it I decided not to open the windows when I drove home so I switched on the air con and then I got to the filling station then decided to switch the air con off, as I drove out the car started overheating, I stopped and waited for it to cool off eventually I got home, the following day I checked all the fuses and they seem fine, so I replaced the radiator switch but still the car's radiator fan doesn't automatically switch on when the temperature is at 90 degrees but when I switch on the air con the fan starts running so I don't think it could be a relay coz the way I see it the fan wouldn't run totally had it been a bad relay, please correct me if I'm wrong.... What else should I check, please help!!!!

Rad fan doesnt come on till overheat - 102C

More likely that your thermostat has stuck closed and the water is no longer circulating

Check if the bottom radiator hose ever gets hot after a drive - should be piping hot after a 10 min drive.
