2017 Match Edition - Can't access Carplay

Hi all! New to polos and cars in general as I bought my first car today
It is a 2017 Match Edition Bluemotion Polo.
I read online and this form that match editions have carplay/android auto. However, I cannot see App Connect when pressing the 'menu' button.
When plugging in my iphone via usb (trying two separate cables), there are no carplay prompts either.
I checked the system information on the infotainment but weirdly enough - I can see app-connect on there! It says the version is 3101.352.0.0.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have spent the whole day troubleshooting this.
