Difference between 6R and 6C parts

Hello,

I need to get a new hood, front bumper, right fender and headlight for my polo.
On the drivers license and in the vin number it says it is 6R (car is from 2016), but the seller I was trying to buy headlight from is convinced my car is 6C and that the 6R headlight won't fit the 6C model.

I have two questions:

1. How can I tell the difference between 6R and 6C?

2. Are the parts that I need the same for both models? I see that hoods and fenders in my local car parts shop are listed as both 6C and 6R, and they look the same as the parts on my car.

Thanks for the help!

The Polo 6C was introduced in the second half of 2014 so your 2016 car will be a Polo 6C

The Polo 6R and Polo 6C share many parts like chassis, running gear, body parts, etc. The biggest difference is in the engines and the electronic compoenents.

Mine looks different than these two :D

I've read elsewhere that rectangular break lights indicate that it's a 6C version, and mine has rectangular lights

So I can buy a 6R headlight and front bumper and install it on my 6C?

Yes, a bit annoying that they all, ie both 6R and 6C have "6R" in the VIN !

Edit:- also annoying that the stability control "OFF" is now found somewhere in the car settings, not very convenient for if/when you get stuck in snow and need to try everything including switching of the stability control, to get moving again - okay so my wife's 6C Polo will have its winter tyres on, but still annoying if I ever need to resort to wanting to switch the stability control off!
