85 TSI handbrake problems

Hi all, I have a 2018 Polo 85 TSI Comfortline with all wheel discs. The problem is the manual handbrake is binding and is excessively stiff to the point you can feel it through the cable and lever.
I have not disassembled it as yet thought i better asked to see if there is anyone that has similar problems.
I am aware of a recall but it only affects drum brake rear wheeled cars, not this one any ideas??
