Do you know if the 6r and 6c use the same connections for their head units? ie.
would this work in a 6r
https://www.alpine.be/p/Products/SingleView/x803d-p6c

Sorry, that's what my experience feels like every time I dig into the 6R/6C infotainment setup.

I just found too many different things, and some models are more easier to find info on than others.
But those are usually the more up-spec models. The ones with the separate display unit and control unit in the glovebox.
But that's all from a 6C perspective.

I guess start with the headunit you have in your 6R and find the pinout for that model.
Then just check against the pinout from Alpine.

Which unit do you have in your 6R?

Can't tell from the photo, but the quadlock is different from the 6C/MQB.
The Alpine will most likely come with a quadlock socket so you need to check its pinouts and can probably move pins around to fit.
Wouldn't say it's going to be a direct fit, but it can probably be done.
No idea on difference with the canbus stuff.

This is the quadlock on my 2017 6C with Composition Colour infotainment unit:

I gave up on the idea tbh & now waiting for a cheaper solution , all the stuff ive read & what dealers have told me made me think that theres too much messing about with settings ,programmes & codings , mix & matching etc , i think youve gota be pretty clued up to do it ! Short of paying though the nose for the dealer to do a total new set up !
If you do it yourself you want everything to work & be compatible to steering wheel controls aswell .

I think the real big problem here is trying mix 6R and 6C.
6R feels like you can do way more provided it is all 6R. But crossing them feels like a problem.
