Gearbox question!

Hi there!
I was wondering if a gearbox from AEX 1.4 8v engine type would fit my AKV (1999 1.4 8v) because I can buy one and mine is making grinding noises in 5th and 4th gear when deaccelerating, replacing would do the trick im guessing, theres oil but metal shavings along.
