Engine Management Light on!!

2012 5dr Match 1.2 Petrol

Engine Management Light came on in Jan 2021 - local mechanic changed the fuel filter and advised a motorway run with 1 bottle of redex as car was 'running lean'
Few months later engine management light came on again, went back to mechanic, he said it's related to Oxygen Sensor, and I should take it to the main dealer

Took it to VW who replaced fuel filter and Oxygen Sensor in July 2021 - cost an arm and a leg just to get this much done, I was mortified but had no choice other than to pay up.
VW advised that I'd been putting in the E10 petrol and this was not suitable for my vehicle which is why this problem occurred....I'd only used it the once.

Fast-forward to Present day...
You guessed it - Engine Management Light on yet again... I'm so sick of this happening!!
Can anyone help or explain why this happens so often? Is there anything I can do myself to prevent this from re-occurring so often?

I live in London so mainly city driving but is this car not suitable for city driving or short journeys? Should I just get rid of it?
I'm just so sick of this engine management light coming on at least once a year and me having to fork out so much to fix it each time!! :(

City ride is the worst thing for a car.
And even more when you perform low mileage.

Engine does not warm up, still always on low rev etc...

I have a 6C with the 1.2 TSI 90Hp and I'm doing over 26000 km per years, mainly higway.

Engine has 120000 km and works fine.

I would sugget to take a OBD or VCDS to check engine code related to Engine management light logo.
It can be so much thing.

Is the engine size a factor? Does this problem occur more in smaller engines?

I don't think so.

I see 1.2 TSI reach over 200 000 km without any issue
