Hi Maarten

Sorry for the delay

I am looking to save money and learn more about my car.

Can you recommend a good ODB Diagnostic brand please?
I have an error light on, and unsure why?

Thanks

There are a lot of different OBD scantools.
Some swear to OBD11 others to Ross-Tech, some to the AliExpress Clone cable.

For my 9N3 I used the VAGCOM409.1 and later a VCDS AliExpress Clone Cable.

Nowadays my friend has the original Ross-Tech Cable, so I go to him for it.

VCDS Clone is around 25€ (euro's)
VCDS original around 500-700 € depending on nr of VIN's you want to use (3 - 10 or unlimited)
OBD11 Is around 70€ purchase, but needs credits for some actions.

You must really pay attention in ordering the right doormodule!
There are differences in 3-door and 5-door and in 9N and 9N3. (probably also in LHD and RHD)
Changing is about 1 hour work, when you are custom to take off the doorpanel.
Get the right tools for the job.
Window has to come out or fixed to the door.
This is necessary because the inner doorplate (iron part) has to come off to change the lock.
Windowmotor and lifter and a part of the doorlock are connected to the inner door part.
There are lots of tutorials on YT on removing doorcard and inner door.

Good luck.
Keep us posted!

When no change if you remove a coil than that one is probably busted.
I would say look at the brand your other coils are.
To be save, try to change coil 3 for 2 or 1.
If same reaction on cilinder 3, there could be a wire problem at coil pos. 3
Than it is useless to purchase a new coil.

Like said before, a scan will reveal al lot more, for me it is guessing what could be wrong.

Hi Maarten

Sorry for the delay
A Coil had failed, and was running terribly badly

It seems like you have been very helpful to me, which I appreciate.

Just a Thought !!
Would you like me to Pay Pal you some money for your Time, or so the Tax man cant complain, a small financial Gift?

Stay Safe
