GTI Seat Covers

Post by Sbal »

Hello everyone. I've searched the forum for any topics regarding seat covers for GTI seats. I've looked online but can't find anything specific for the model. Has anyone found seat covers for their GTI? Thanks :)

Why would you want seatcovers?
Don't like the GTI upholstery?

Hi Maarten, I love the seats. I have young kids and they're needed to keep the seats free from mud and stains.

Ah that sounds logical. My kids always had their feet against the back of the front seats.
Now that they're older they understand why I hated it

The picture looks good from here!

Haha, yes my kids provide a Turkish bath/kickboxing type of massage function to my car seats - ouch! I'm glad you liken the look of the covers. I tried contacting Walser too, on their fitments but they came back saying they do not deliver to the UK

They look some of the nicest seat covers I’ve seen for bolstered sports seats like those in the GTI. It’s a shame they don’t deliver to the UK. Quite a few covers are ill-fitting and look like someone’s put a bin bag over the seats!

As an alternative, you could treat the seat fabric with a Scotchguard type product to protect them and make them easier to clean (see links below). It’d also be quite a bit cheaper than buying seat covers. Retreatment maybe required after a year or so, but it’d still be cheaper than buying seat covers, and you’d get the full benefit of your seats rather than keeping them covered up for the benefit of the next owner.

Thanks for the advice :) , the VW dealer is throwing in upholstery and paintwork protection into the purchase but I'm still worried about my kids causing damage.

My daughter knows if she dirties the seats, she cleans it or she walks as punishment. She understands how precious my car is

My father was the same when I was a kid. It was drilled into me that car seats were just for sitting on, and if I made them dirty, I would clean them :).

Same here, but my kids need reminding every time. I think I need to practice the "dad stern face" 😁

As an update, I didn't go for those cool looking covers. I had bought front and rear covers for my BMW 5 Series from overthetop.co.uk and when I sold it fitted them to another one of my cars. I thought they would be far to big especially, for the rear seats but they fit perfectly! The fronts really well as they have moulded around the side bolsters. I will take a photo when I get a chance but this is a photo from overthetop's website of another set:

Worth just checking that they are airbag friendly, so in the event of sideswipe type accident, the front seat side airbags can deploy correctly without causing injury.

Hi SRGTD, I hope you're well? 100℅ yes, you're right and thankfully they do have the openings for the side airbags 🙂. I'm thinking about protecting the boot, now too. They do ones that fully cover the inside of the boot. Definitely need to protect the bumper tailgate area too!
