Really basic question this one.

A recent visit to Kwik Fit has left me with a broken wheel trim on my little 2012 Polo 1.2 (6R). It has the 14" wheel trims that are attached with a series of metal clips that push into the steel wheel, rather than a ring around the outside of the wheel as I'm used to from previous cars. A new official wheel trim is well over £50 when a set of Halfords specials (with the outer ring) cost half that.

My question is, do I need to use the same official trim with those metal clips or will any 14" set of trims fit?

Any old trim will do

As above, while maybe removing one of the other trims and check what the VW part number moulded into the inner side of these trims, then look on ebay for a used one.
