Hi,

My son came in today with his fuel filler flap completely snapped off and doesn't have a clue how it happened surprise surprise!

I'm after help with part number

The one I can find on eBay is '6R0 809 857' but there are 4 numbers on back of current one including said number.

I have found one within his year range and same colour from dismantler but eBay vehicle checker says it won't fit.

My confusion is the letter after the part number - what does it mean?

The 1st picture (below) is the back of his current snapped one with numbers/letters on.

The 2nd picture (below) shows the part numbers of one I have seen on eBay.

My question is will it fit and what are all the letters after part number for?

thanks in advance.

why look for paint matched part when you can transfer over your painted part to the new one?
the part at the dealer costs 82 eur new. Just so you know that you arent over paying.

Explanation of how to decode VW part numbers at the link below - the letter after the part number is a modification code, and according to the linked article. parts with a modification code after the part number aren’t always interchangeable with the original part.

Fuel filler flap options for the 6R 2012 Polo (5 door European model) at the link below confirm the part number is 6R0 809 857. However, whether or not there are any physical differences between filler flaps with different modification codes meaning they may or may not fit, I’m afraid I don’t know.

Reason I need a painted part is his old one has snapped off and lost so all that's left on the car is the hinge.
