OBDEleven diagnostic scanner?

Post by wolfie »

I have a little niggle with the car and think a good place to start would be just to scan the car and see what may show up. Issue is at the moment other than a cheapo OBD2 scanner I don't have one. I'd love to splurge on a VCDS but can't justify the cost. OBDEleven seems to be a cost effective alternative but are they capable of performing a full diagnostic scan. Basically something I can copy and post on here should I need to?

Have had mine for over a year. It's OK.
You could gather points to run functions that needed tokens.
Then they removed that.
Then they increased the price, including renewals, by a ridiculous amount.
My subscription runs out in a few days. It was/is a cool tool, but not keen on the renewal costs or the way they went about it.

I will at some point cough up for VCDS. Much larger community behind that as well.

There is also mycarly.com which seems similar, but I haven't dug much into it after I committed to wanting VCDS.

Oh, and to actually answer your questions...
Yes, can do diagnostic test and can clear codes. Can't recall now but I think you can also e-mail the scan from the app.
Can also do adaptations (enable/disable features).

I think it even offers more options that VCDS
The coding bits may not be labeled like in VCDS, but you still get to do output test, live values, adaptations, coding...

They keep it updated, and they keep evolving. It think it justifys price:worth ratio

Cheers. I definitely need "something" I've been faffing for ages. Time to bite the bullet. If money were no object I'd have a VCDS but how they've now structured the prices make it look expensive for a DIYer like me. OBDElevenPro comes in under £100. (I know there are top-up fees for credits, but it's as a when)

Functionality I do want is to be able to do a full scan and print-out so I can post it here. And brake bleed and throttle adaption.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't, but it's a bit more user friendly with the smartphone interface.

I'm assuming as it's Android based it will work equally well if installed on a Tablet. My phone is hardly cutting edge..

Video in motion VCDS vs Obd11?
FEC/ Swap codes for mib2 - obd11 had it first.
etc...
And the price of both products if you compare them...
He could even return the money by doing coding these simple tings that people want for small money

Controller adaptation maps (make and restore)
E-OBD2 functions on all brands
Very extended libraries of adaptation channels and codings
Live data + logging
Very active community with experts

OBD11 is fun for beginners and enthusiasts but no single professional workshop will depend on it.

As far as i know obd11 can do data logging.
What about that Xhorse tool that you and ciclo use?
Maybe that could also be his option.

I think obd11 is great for its money

"E-OBD2 functions on all brands" Is that definite? I as assume that means that although VCDS is specifically targeted at VAG group cars, it is capable of reading basic codes from any manufacturer with a OBD2 port? So basically all makes basic code reader. Higher level stuff, VAG only?

Hahaha...

OBD11 is an excellent tool and very comfortable to use, I would say outstanding for any user who doesn't mind that their car's data (all data) flow through the network.
I have almost all the diagnostic tools just for not discussing which of them is the best or the worst... 😄, I even have one of those Chinese tools that is similar to OBD11 that the application and some functions are free, so everyone can spy on everything I do in my cars... 'everything I want them to know'.😁

I think VCDS will not disappoint the user who is asking the question, in fact it will meet his needs 100%.
