Hi all,

First post here...
I have a 2016 Polo 1.2tsi with a 7-speed DSG. Engine code CJZ.

I serviced my Polo yesterday for the first time (was serviced by a workshop prior) and foolishly opened the wrong drain plug (wanted to replace engine oil).
It seems I have drained some DSG transmission fluid accidentally.

From watching some Youtube videos it seems that there is an internal over-fill tube sitting on the same hole (with a smaller allen socket) as the larger allen-keyed drain plug. I only opened the first and only about 0.5-1 liter drained out.

My newbie questions are:
1. What DSG gearbox model am I dealing with?
2. Do I need to top-up transmission oil? It seems that I might just drained the excess oil in the DSG...
3. If top-up is needed, what's the best way to do so?

Appreciate any help, currently will avoid driving to make sure I don't damage anything...

From checking a VW Group parts listing, your gearbox is a DQ200 which has a dry clutch, its trans fluid is G 052 512 A2 - the A2 bit denotes that it is a 1 litre container.

So, did you have the raised up at both ends when you opened this wrong plug?

I'm guessing that you opened it with the front of the car raised only, so to get some of the lost fluid back into it, you will need to raise the car up level and have the trans fluid at its operating temperature, then remove that drain/fill plug and, using a small fluid pump with a hose that can pass up through that second level insert, pump in fluid until it starts to run back out, refit the drain plug, job done.

The car was on a slope nose down and I jacked up the nose only as well...So it was somewhat leveled.

If I fill and pull out the pump hose, won't I be in the same situation where the fluid will drain before I thread the plug back in again? Or perhaps I am missing something here...

If the car was near enough level when you removed the drain/fill plug, then the gearbox fluid level is probably okay.

A last one, I assume there is a DTC for 'low transmission fluid'. Do you know if it will be triggered if I'm missing such a tiny amount or only at critical levels (say, half the oil is missing)?

I'd doubt if there is a fault code specifically for low fluid level, I've not got a DSG box so I can't comment on what fault codes have been assigned to DSG boxes.
