Question. Is the green light on the SOS switch illuminated when this happens, or not?
I had my SOS system (+ internet access) vanish for a couple of weeks a while back. Booked it into the garage for them to have a look and the system came back on its own after a couple of weeks. So just cancelled the garage visit.
Far too much electronics in cars these days (think I keep on saying this

).

agree entirely
I said similar to this when cameras went from film to digital.. now you don't have to take a photo.. you can let the camera (computer) focus and even compose/manipulate.
And now Tesla's (other manufacturers to) are killing people who trust the automation too much.

@madmark - Not sure if it’s a software issue but there’ve been numerous instances reported on various forums of the SOS warning being triggered in current model VAG cars (not just VW’s) going back a couple of years or longer; try a Google search on ‘VW false SOS warnings’ and you’ll get multiple results returned for the search.
In view of the length of time this has been an issue, VW may have developed a fix by now so it’s probably worth speaking to your dealer.

Hi. Out of interest. Did they give you any indication what "parts" were involved?

I've just got this issue. It's paired with two other issues:
1. sign recognition system fault
2. it stopped synchronizing car data with volkswagen app.
I spoke to my dealer, they said there are some models which are under recalls for SOS system issues, but not the Polo. Scheduled a visit in 2 weeks. The car has only 1500 miles on it...
