Carwow website is indicating a lead time of 8 months for a Polo GTI. Assuming this information is still current, that would suggest delivery around June / July if your car was ordered last November.Monty246810 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 4:45 pm Hi everyone can anyone help tried to get some information on my order today from the dealer for a new Polo GTI addition 25 that was ordered last November and they still do not have a build date for the car is anyone else having the same problem with there orders. Thanks for giving me your information that you know but still don't understand why they can't give me an idea of build date plus I asked the sales man what was going on and he could not give me any idea what's happening at VW. Considering all the GTI addition 25 where all sold end of November 23.

Re: New edition 25 polo gti
By ‘all sold end of November’ assume you mean that orders for all of the UK allocated ED25 GTI’s had been filled by that date rather than all customers had taken delivery, as there are seven ED25 GTI’s advertised as brand new / unregistered for sale on Auto Trader.Monty246810 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 6:55 pm Thanks for giving me your information that you know but still don't understand why they can't give me an idea of build date plus I asked the sales man what was going on and he could not give me any idea what's happening at VW. As for why your dealer can’t give you a build date; historically, VW have often been very poor at communication - both internally within VW and with the end customer. There’ve been many instances over the years on various VW forums where dealers have had no idea what is happening with specific customer orders as the ordering and build system hadn’t been updated to show the current build status by the VW factory building the car. So I’d say it’s highly likely your dealer doesn’t have any information on the build status of your car.
If you’re able to get your deposit returned, then you could consider one of the 7 unsold / unregistered cars currently on Auto Trader - that’s if you’re prepared to travel for the ‘right’ car and can be flexible on colour and spec.

Re: New edition 25 polo gti
The two I'm aware of, both ordered within a couple of weeks of each other, one is confirmed week 23 and the other is unconfirmed week 33. Both have sunroofs.
Re: New edition 25 polo gti
Had an update from the dealers about the GTI 25ED, hence why there is no build date
Theres a parts shortage:
1, Alloys wheels
2, The leather for the seats.
Sounds like a load of bull to me

Re: New edition 25 polo gti delivary
Good evening everyone. I am new to this and this is my first forum post.
I too, have a Polo.GTI edition 25 on order and has been on order since August 2023. I was told that a March 2024 delivary was realist, give or take a couple of weeks.
Towards the end of February i was getting quite excitied for my new purchase. After a brief phoncall to the dealership, I was told that no build date has been confirmed.
These phoncalls for updates on production have continued since February, and the only update on the delayed production was a shortage of the Adelaide alloy wheels.
A few weeks later, still no prodution date but another reason for the delayed production. This reason would be the re-design of the steering wheel, meaning the removal of the haptic volume controls and replacing with physical buttons.
I found these reasons for the delayed production very hard to believe, but when salesperson tells you thats what VW head office tells you, you have to belive them.
Finally, I was told of a week 23 build slot, which had got me super excited, only to be told today that even though the car is confirmed in production, thiet is a strong posibllity of another 4 week delay.
The poor sales guy I am dealing with is quite embarresed that things have taken this long. This is not the dealerships fault, it is VW South Africa's fault. They seem to be in complete diss-aray and cant keep up with the customers demands, coupled with power cuts at the factory due to the electricity being state owned and massive supply chain issues.
Trully thinking of cancelling the Polo GTI edition 25 order snd waiting for the 8.5 Golf GTI Clubsport
I am thinking of canceling the order

Re: New edition 25 polo gti delivary
@L55RKE; welcome to the forum. Long wait times with VW aren’t unusual, and sometimes the reasons for the delays are outside VW’s control (e.g. supply chain issues). That can be very frustrating for customers who have cars on order as IMHO VW are very poor at communication - both internally within their own organisation and to the end customer. If only VW provided regular updates of what was happening, at least customer expectations could be managed appropriately.L55RKE wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2024 10:00 pm Good evening everyone. It’s interesting that the redesigned steering wheel has been given as a reason for the delay - VW have been fitting the revised steering wheel with normal buttons to Polo GTI’s since Q3 last year (see post at bottom of page 50 in discussion topic at this link; https://www.uk-polos.net/viewtopic.php? ... &start=735) and the same steering wheel is used in the ED25 GTI, so don’t see how that should cause production delays unless due to an issue with the supplier of the steering wheels.
In your position I think I’d stick with your current order - especially as you’ve been told your car has been confirmed for production. If you do decide to cancel the order for your Polo GTI ED25, check the small print in your vehicle order documentation to make sure you’d get your deposit back. I see there are currently three brand new Polo GTI ED25’s for sale on Auto Trader, so if you are prepared to be flexible on colour / spec and if you’d be prepared to travel to buy one of those, then that might be something to consider if you do cancel your original order.
As for the mk8.5 GTI Clubsport - although order books are open for non-performance variants of the mk8.5 Golf, based on previous generations of the Golf, order books for the performance variants don’t usually open until some months later. I’d anticipate that VW will start taking the first orders for the mk8.5 Golf GTI Clubsport some time during Q4 this year with the first customer cars arriving around mid 2025. If there’s high demand for the mk8.5 GTI Clubsport then that could add to lead times, meaning a long wait. Also, bear in mind that a Golf GTI Clubsport is likely to be significantly more expensive than the Polo GTI ED25 that you have on order; if the Clubsport has a list price of £40k or more at time of first registration, then you’d also be hit with the higher rate of annual VED (road tax) in years 2-6 of ownership - currently £190 standard rate plus £410 enhanced rate, so a total of £600 per year. Other ownership related expenses such as insurance, fuel economy, depreciation and finance payments (if buying on PCP or leasing) are also likely to be higher for a Golf GTI Clubsport than they will be for a Polo GTI ED25.
I hope you get some positive news soon . Please update this discussion topic with any developments.
Re: New edition 25 polo gti
Wise, interesting words. The trouble is that the Polo GTI edition 25 is almost a year old already, with the press car releases.
With the alloy wheel and steering wheel concerns, I know it's B****X, but with the 8.5 Clubsport coming out in Q4,I think its going to be the better option.
Yes, it's going to be more expensive. Yes to higher VED.
Yes to higher fuel consumption, but having a nicer car comes with higher costs.
The Golf GTI clubsport sticks to its hot hatch values. It looks fast, standing still and very aggressive, unlike the BMW 135 which looks very similar to a Focus or an Astra.
TBH. I have no paperwork regarding cancellation, except the deposit made, and if I was to cancel the Polo GTI order, the dealership would still be able to sell the car and I'll transfer the deposit to the Golf GTI Clubsport.
I have waited 10 months for a 1 in 2500 so why not wait for something a bit longer for something better?

What options did you order?
