EPC warning light

Hi new to forum & not particularly technical so any advice much appreciated
I have a 2013 polo done under 40k miles. A few weeks ago epc light came on when son driving my car late at night next morning I drove it, no epc but red exclamation mark warning light on. Got it straight into garage and they tell me issue with brakes as brake fluid leaking - that got fixed. Told me nothing else flagged up on diagnostics.
On Monday - epc light back on plus catalytic convertor light - back into garage today. Did diagnostics again, no faults, car running OK no loss of power etc - reset the warning lights. Garage have mentioned it could be throttle body (known issue with these cars) & quoted £400 - £500 to replace.
The garage was closing as I drove away - got home 5 mins later epc light on again!!
If it was throttle body would there not be spluttering, loss of power my son has vw fox & throttle body replaced on that last year as his car was barely limping along but mine seems OK.
Or could it be something else altogether.
Thanks for reading!!!
