This is a bit of a stupid question but I tried to look into this and wasn’t really getting a straight answer

My coolant is running kinda low (around min line) and was wondering if I was able to just top it up with the genuine G12? And I didn’t have to do a coolant flush

As I currently do not have a lot of spare cash and have an mot due

Just looking for some advice if I’m able to just top up and shouldn’t have issues as I read it could lead to overheating issue mixing old and new

Thanks in advance (:

Low coolant won't fail an MOT as long as it isn't low enough to put a light on which by that point the tank is nearly empty. Given you've said it's around min you'll be fine for the MOT.

VW has now moved to G12 Evo and is around £9 for a litre of premix which will be fine to mix. But as said above distilled water or generic G12 will be fine.

A quick look on Amazon distilled water is going for around £7 for a litre bottle. Euro car parts have a litre of G12+ pre mix for £5.39 so that's probably your best option cost-wise.
