Sound actuator buzzing

Hello guys
I took my GTI in to have the bonnet resprayed, and it came back with what i assume is the sound actuator making a loud rattle under acceleration. It only does it in sport (engine sound) mode, and less so in normal mode, and none in eco mode.
Ive also noticed that the engine generally sounds a little different - a bit more diesely if you like, when idling.
Could it be that they knocked the sound actuator and its not working properly? (is this easy to do when removing and replacing the bonnet?). Does the part affect engine sound under normal operations such as when idling, or only when flooring it?
Cheers

Hi PoloGTInoob
Sounds like it may have been moved inadvertently (it is located between the engine and windscreen) but its fixable if you not a fan of the fake noise. Configure the drive mode with engine sound in ECO mode and the noise will go away. My car had the annoying buzz from day 1 and then got the VW technicians to disable it permanently.

I actually want to be able to use the sport sound mode occassionally

and would also rather it was fixed than simply disconnected
Did they not offer to fix it?

I asked for it to be turned off, so no did not ask them to fix it. If you would like it fixed I recommend going back to the place the did the repair on the bonnet, or, seeing a VW dealership.

I don’t know if the soundaktor buzzes in my car when the engine sound is set to Sport as I set it (i.e. the engine sound) to ECO on the day I got my car just over three years ago and I’ve kept it in ECO ever since. Out of curiosity, I did try the engine sound set to Sport just once - I tolerated it for just a few miles and switched it straight back to ECO.
@PoloGTInoob; sorry, my ramblings above don’t answer your question. The soundaktor is pretty well protected against accidental knocks but you could always check to ensure it’s still firmly in place and hasn’t become dislodged; the pictures in the discussion thread at the link below show its location and how to access it.

Just FYI to anyone else facing this problem, it somehow resolved itself over time, possibly due to me rubbing the speaker the check it was not loose. So it might have been a speaker issue (the engine noise comes thru the speaker)
