Bye bye gti….and VW!

Well it’s come time to say goodbye to my GTI. Realistically I knew I’d made a mistake switching back from the Tiguan a bit ago but my wife hadn’t quite reached that point. Well she did late October on a long trip up to Scotland when, 80 miles into the journey, she turned to me and said “you need to change your f***ing car…”
The constant drone of the tyres and wind on the m6 North finally broke her. My darling 11 year old also whinged about the lack of space, vent and armrest in the back.
I’ve flip flopped between small fast cars (Polo Blue Gt, Polo GTI, golf GTD) and large slow family cars (Troc 1.0L and Tiguan 1.5) for a while but with no deposit as it was always a VW so the minor changes up and down in payment didn’t bother me. So this time I’ve gone for a moderate speed car that will fit my daughter and dog comfortably in the back.
I’m leaving VW for Japanese shores with the CX30 which has lots of nice physical buttons and no sliders or stupid awful touchscreens like the current golf and new Tiguan. I’ll still be around from time to time as we are keeping my wife’s r-line as the dog gets the whole back seat as we never use it for family trips, but I’ll be on much less. Having been a member here nearly ten years it’s a great forum with a good bunch of people, so hopefully you’ll all still be here when I pop back occasionally.
