Is the auxiliary belt connected to the water pump? I’m having issues with what I would say more electrics, airbag light on battery light on no indicators, no power steering and trouble starting but the garage tells me alternator is fine but the water pump and cam chain needs replacing. Any help on this please I’m confused!

i don't think it's related. the cam belt is not driving any electrics.

1.2, 1.4, 1.6 or 1.8?

1.2 3-cilinder waterpump by chain
1.6 4-cilinder also by chain (afaik)

Not by drive belt
1.4 4-cilinder auxiliary belt drives waterpump
GTI also auxiliary belt for waterpump

It’s a 1.2 petrol
Is it one chain that connects the water pump to the alternator, power steering pump?

Thanks so much!

Correction
Only oil pump with the chain.
All other connected with alternator with a belt

Ahh ok and what belt is it that connects the alternator, power steering and water pump?
And could it be what causes problems with the electric? Like battery, indicators, power steering and trouble starting? If this belt is loose or broken? I think this is what the garage needs to replace and they will also replace the cam belt and water pump at the same time as it makes sense to do it all at once.
Any more advice is very much appreciated!
Thanks so much again

*battery* is not really battery light.
It is the alternator light.

Did you do a scan of the car?
Warning lights on means there must be faultcodes stored.

If this belt is broken, car wil run untill the battery is depleted.

If the belt is too loose it could be the source of soms of your issues. Maybe a defect of the belt tensioner.
It sometimes will squeel when the car runs

Is it the serpentine belt that connects all of these then? I think it is damaged and needs replacing and it’s not the cambelt that needs replacing but the garage will make the cambelt new and water pump new as it’s making a noise too apparently so they will renew it all at the same time. Does this make sense to do that?
The lady from the garage explained that the belt that needs replacing is the v ribbed belt is this also called the serpentine belt?

And the garage had checked over the car and this is what they are saying needs to be done. I’m not sure if they scanned it to find fault codes.

So they are saying new v ribbed belt as it’s damaged, new cambelt and water pump as the pump is making a noise. And the cambelt might as well be replaced at the same time,

Thanks again!

1.2 has a chain for the engine not a belt.
When you have dashlights you have faultcodes stored.
Try find somebody with VCDS, let him/her do a scan.
