Polo GTi + - Reverse Parking

Post by RobJJW »

Hi All,

Bene lurking on here for quite a while as I researched my next car :D

I've purchase a 2018 Polo GTI + and am loving it.

When I put the car in to reverse and it activates the Park Pilot, the beeping noise is extremely quiet, far quieter than the front beep.

I've been in to the settings and both the front and rear are set to maximin volume. I've also set the infotainment to mute whilst active, which helps slightly (but not much).

Is this a common issue with the GTI +, or should both the front and rear be equally loud!

Thanks

Welcome to the forum @RobJJW. Can’t say I’ve noticed the volume from the rear sensors to be any quieter than the front sensors on my 2020 GTI+. Both front and rear can be easily heard (the audio volume for radio / other media sources automatically reduces when reverse gear is selected).

If I remember next time I use the car, I’ll check in the vehicle settings to see what volume they’re set to and post a picture of the settings in this discussion thread.

Maybe the beeper in the rear is covered by something that result in lower volume?
My FL AW has no problem with the sound volume front or rear, setting is about half way and loud enough

Thanks for the reply. Do you know where the beeper sound comes from and I'll check! Although I cant see anything obvious, as theres nothing in the car :)

Probably above the right rear wheel arch in the boot, behind the carpet.

am I missing something here.. LOL

is there an external beeper for reversing on some models..

I have front and rear parking sensors and the beep volume is adjusted in the menu but the sound is definitely inside on my basic model.

(ps I accidentally found you could alter the volume of any media you are playing when selecting reverse; mine used to beep really loud in reverse but also cut the media i was playing down so much as not worth listening too.. :D )

Here’s a link to a vid, where you can hear the difference between front and back:

Cheers for confirming. The fella I bought the car from has taken out an extended service plan, which I’m gonna continue. I’ll ask them to look at it when it has its next service in March. Hopefully it’ll be covered by the warranty!

my apologies..

I wonder why it is placed there.. you would know if you are going forwards or backwards. I'm missing something obviously (won't be the first time)

These are the settings for my parking sensors - the volume sliders are towards the lower end of the scale but the sound from sensors is plenty loud enough for me.
