Hi looking for best advice on finding a replacement for my 6 Speed 2014 6R R-Line Polo..... appear to be a minefield to know what code I need to find a compatible gearbox, any advice welcome please??

Check the build sheet/sticker. It's stuck to the trunk/boot floor or in your service book.

Gearbox should be an 02U or 02T usually. You can get that type off the end cover of the gearbox. Should be engraved in there.
On the build sheet, next to engine code, you will find gearbox type (mine is PPA, for example).

If the build sheet says PPA, PEC, PRQ or QNH then it's a 02T/02U.
If it says QTR or SEP then it should be a 0DQ gearbox.
Both of these are what they call MQ200.

Yeah, so very simple, innit? WTH VW!??!

Thanks for that very useful info, off in for an oil change on Monday, will get the garage to check the engraved code on the housing.......
