Hi I just had my 2011 VW Polo in the garage for a service and MOT . Since I got it back I can smell fumes coming out of the air vents but only when the car is stationary. Any idea what it could be ? I looked under the car to see if the exhaust was damaged but it seems ok .
Thanks mic

Maybe try to find where the PCV gets connected to the top of the engine, if this has been cracked/broken during the service - seems easy enough to break and as it is made out of plastic, maybe it hardens with age - if it is broken off, crankcase fumes will be escaping but some will some oil in mist form, so maybe you will find traces of oil on the upper area of your engine.
Try Googling this to get pictures of its location, this has been happening to many of these early 8 valve TSI engines, in VW Group cars.

There might even be some more info on this Polo forum, but that is the first info that I found when checking.
You should be able to unravel what your looking for without removing any parts - probably by using a torch and looking for an area that is now a bit oily.
