1.2L CGPB Consuming Oil

I have a 1.2L 3-cylinder (engine code: CGPB) with 150 000 miles that appears to be consuming oil a bit more quickly than anticipated. I'm having to top it up every 3-4k miles at the moment, and I'm a bit stumped as to what could be causing it.
The only thing that is slightly off with the engine is that when the oil filler cap is removed, it seems to take a short moment to get back to a normal idle speed, and when the cap is put back on, the engine speed slows down (almost to the point of stalling), and then picks up speed again and stabilises.
The only suggestion I've had is the PCV valve needing replacement, but that's as far as I've managed to get unfortunately.
Not a massive issue as I'm doing oil changes more regularly due to the high mileage (although a large portion of these is motorway miles), but was wondering if anyone has experienced this issue before, and if so, how they sorted it (hopefully by not scrapping it lol).
