Hey guys.

I was wondering what the actual differences are between:
  • Sealed
  • Ported
  • Band pass
I'm using a 12" sealed box with about 1cu. of volume for my JBL sub. And what's that business of shoving that "wadding" or cotton like stuff inside the box?

Thanks for any help! :D

Thanks Josh. :)

Very long and factual and I agree with you, crappy looking website. :p But I shall check through it.

Actually going through that site didn't really clear my mind. Rather confusing as its very technical and I didn't have a clue what it's talking about.

Why don't you guys tell me if this is any good and will it fit in the back of the Polo 9N?

Thanks!

i think that will take up the whole boot!

well i think autoacoustics do custom made boxes that fit in the wee sections that are above the wheel arch (i hope u know what i mean  )
(well bits behind the rear tailights)

Yup do know what you mean or where you mean. But they don't like particulary nice in my opinion and they stick out, if you know what I mean now! :P

as a rule of thumb:

sealed - can handle more power, usually 'tighter' bass, usually drop lower, easier to build, easier to 'get right'.

ported - more efficient (go louder with less volume), can be tuned to specific frequencies, if designed and built right, can sound awesome!!!

bandpass - dont really know too much about them.

Do they actually do one for the 9n though, thinking it might be more efficient for me at the mo.

@SidaBa - I believe they do make it for the 9N. Not entirely sure.

@^Adam^ - Thanks for the help. What do you have? I shall see how much it is for a ported one then just to try out, 'cos I have a sealed one at the moment. Are ported ones more expensive or bigger?
