Does anyone know what its meant by the term "bulk-head"?

Well actually I'm doing up my sisters Lupo and I saw it being mentioned on a different website about putting the power lead through the "bulk-head" from the engine compartment into the interior?

Its the Big metal panel that runs behind the dash - sometimes called a fire wall

Just an alternative of saying getting the wire from the engine bay to the inside of the car! you have to get the wire through the "bulkhead".

I've done a lupo, it goes through the rubber bit that LOADS of other wires go through, and you have to reach way up behind the dash towards the centre.

Ooh! You know stufff about the Lupo mate?

Can you help me out with this? I really dunno where to find a point to put the powr cable through from the engine compartment?

Is it under the glovebox like the Polo by any chance?

Hoorar i was allowed! Well you could have figured out a way to have done it by now but this is how i did it.



Green line indicates where i would put the wire if and when i ever do it again. The blue arrow is where the fuse is at the moment, but i'd cable tie it along the "green line" in future.



This is where the power enters the car. I used a coathanger if i remember last time and groped behind the dash to find the end of the coat hanger to find the wire.



This is where the power line is, in the passenger footwell.



This is a closer look of where the power line comes from in the inside.



This is a picture (blurry i know) of roughly exactly where the power comes in. I did the photo by shoving the camera under there as it's not possible to get my head under there with out twisting in to a strange shape and i'm not willing to do that on the street and in the wet

You're damn right! I've actually done it now, found the way which is exactly the same as yours!

If I remembered right, you told me how to do my Polo last time so I tried the same thing with the Lupo. Got some pics later if I can upload them to somewhere.

p.S: Took me a long time to get through that bit. I started taking the Lupo apart from 5 and just got back from the garage and the time is 03:45AM. So tired....

As you're such a nice person, do you think you can do me 2 more favours please?

Do you think you could tell me where to mount the ground lead from the amplifier (somewhere in the boot?) Where did you put yours? Possibly another picture perhaps?

That's for the Lupo and can you do one for the Polo too? 'cos I've currently mounted it behind the medic kit bit at the left of the boot but I found it a bit too far away from my amp so I'm rather restricted where to put the amp.

Lol did see ya posts on Club lupo and think you weren't going to see my pics. Will probably have to wait till tmw night for pictures of the earth wire as i wont see my gf till then.

As far as i can remember for both the polo and the lupo i but it under neath the plate the seat belt bolts in to.

Oh did you? You go on that "other" forum as well then mate? It's not very good (ssh!) they don't really help!

Anyway! Well I've heard that place you mentioned before, but I still don't really know where that is. So I think picture would say a thousand words in this instances.

Bloody hell you took the whole car apart

That's where i put the earth in the Lupo. Where the seat belt connects bit (can't for the life of me remember the name for them). Unscrew that a bit or completely, shove the wire under that.

On the polo i did it where the seatbelt it's self connects to the body work of the car, under the rear seats.

That screw whre the seat belt "holder thingy" is? Isn't it really hard to unscrew it?

Nope not if you have a socket set or a spanner

I actually had to strip some paintwork just to make sure its a proper grounding, removed the paper ring, black metal thingy that held the seat belt together? (if you know what I mean) and squashed the cable with the seatbelt bolt. Used some "Electrical Contact Grease" as well just to make sure.

Everything working with it now - done and sorted.

Yeah apart from i didn't use that bit , i used the bit from the seat belt but exactly the same method
