Hello!

Which are the best tyres to get for a 6.5x16" alloy?

Best for dry/wet conditions but also for value for money(no budget tyres)

I'm looking for something that will last as I drive a lot!

It can be a mail order place and AS COMPETITIVE AS POSSIBLE!

Well, I've just bought some toyo tyres and they cost me £32.50 each at Inters But Ash told me they'd probably only last 10k miles. Apparently the grip on them is pretty astonishing though.

Best size to get for your speedo will be 205/45/R16's, perhaps you could try your dealership and see what rubber they are wearing? I have Dunlop SP SPORT 2000's as standard and the grip is pretty good. Though I think the 16's wear Michelins as standard now.

45 each for toyos, good price!

Will Toyo's only last for about 10k though?

I've fitted NEXEN tires this season and for the moment I'm pretty happy of the way they are...they didn't cost alot and are better than my previous ContiSportContact

I usually get a non-repairable puncture before 10k anyway.
The best one I've had were Ventus. They lasted over a year. The worst I had were continentals.
Hell, I just want to get the wheels on my car, as long as they do their job and keep me on the road.

well first can this be moved to the chassis forum
and the toyos are quite soft but josh swears by them
and yeah niel we got a decent price didnt we hehe

my advices are :
1 pirelli p zero asimetrico its amazing but a little bit expensive
2 bridgestone potenza g3
potenza is very good on rain

I'm running Yokohama AVS Sport 195/45/15s on my Mk5, and the dry grip is simply staggering. No understeer, no oversteer just neutral handling, this is with the stock suspension.

Wet grip is good but not great, even though they were developed as a rain tyre for Formula Atlantic cars No aqua-planning though.

Downsides, with them being a soft compound wear rates are said to be high. Cost is bad as well, with the prices for 15s starting at £45, and 16s starting at around £60 a corner

sorry to say it mate but £45 a corner is pretty good if you want a higher price look into the bridgestone sp-03 ( i think they do it in 15)
but id like to add another recomendation which is the bridgestone re-720 which is said to heve the same grip as the sp-03 in the dry but in the wet its better due to a more agressive tread which helps dissipate the water but the rubber is harder so the wear is better and i can say from pushing them to their limits (and just a tiny bit beyond ) in dry conditions on a good surface (air field at inters) they "let go" very progressivly and "come back" very smoothly which means that if you over cook it then the car doesnt go from full grip to no grip in 1 mm it means the you progressivly loose traction, and the same goes for when you regain grip where they come in sommthly so as not to throw the weight balence out of the window and onto the road. noise is very good with hardly any screaming of drumming at criusing speeds (80mph) and i now have close to 200 miles ( a lot of moterway) and they are still new exept for on the outer edge where they have scrubbed up sightly.

They SHOULD be on tomorrow or Tuesday this week with any luck I've gotta take the wheels off and take them to the dealership in a van cause I don't want them so see my springs
