Hi

Just saw ^ wondered how rare they are? - never ever seen one before!!!

I don't think any rolled out of the factory as vans, only caddy pickups.. must be some kind of conversion. Strange thing to bother doing though..

I think there were vans manufactured by VW. There are some Mark3 examples too. Apparently they are rare, but thats just what I've heard. Can't be too certain though. I certainly haven't seen any of either other than the pic below.

There's definately a Mk2 one being used as an antiques store delivery van in Bangor, NW Wales.... same blue as mine too :D

we tried to rescue a mk3 van from a scrappy
was only in there for engine death :(

there are MK2 vans, iv seen 2 in my area.... only one now!! and its the burgandy Red colour, with a blue wing and bonnet!! :P

Theyre definatly factory issue as etka has the part numbers for the rear window-replacing panels. Its a shame theyre not diesels! (theyre all 1043's as far as I know)

You have to either be very lucky and find the one or two that ended up over here (imports only mind, theyre all LHD) Dan Barnes found one in a scrapyard and had the engine out of it for his conversion. Or you can pop over to germany and import one yourself. 8) Its not a Good engine though; 48hp and 63lbft of torque. Needs G40ing :D

Yeah, thats still better than a stock 1L though, and the prospect of 70mpg!
