mk4 1.4 8v misfiring / hesitation on acceleration

Hello
I left my car stood for just under three weeks and the day I started using it again I let it get to temperature and then gave it the normal thrashing. Moments later the car is driving like poo!
It doesn't stall at all and it even sound like the ECU is compensating for a deal cylinder but any acceleration above real gentle just isn't working!
I had the throttle body cleaned and reset along with a new water temp sender 3 months ago and it has been running fine until now.
So far I have checked the plugs, leads and dizy but have had no joy.
Any pointers would be much appreciated!
