Hi,

Here's the deal
I have the normal doorcards in the 6N with no "holes" for some front speakers, i can only use the space for the tweeters.

but...

I have seen that some cars, like SpeedLaw's ( great car by the way!) that have that same space.

Now how can i do that? do i get some doorcards from a car that already has the space or do i get something else? I remember seeing in a german site ( and i don't speak german) what seemed like a kit for the doors, but i have no idea!

Any thoughts on how it can be done?

I think they could be some universal door pods thingies which you can get from places llike in Halfords if you look through their catalouges in the ICE section.

DIY kit or something like that.

I don't think they get Halfords stores in Portugal!

I wonder whether you could get the genuine door cards direct from VW with the speaker mounts?

or a scrapyard?

I was thinking of trying the scrapyard but i need to make sure that there is a Polo model that comes with those door cards as standard. Does anyone knows? Because i've seen models with it, others dont have it!

It would make my life easier going to the scrapyard and telling him exactly " I want some doorcards from Vw's X or Y to fit on my 6N"
Otherwise, before i can explain what i want...

alright
all the door cards are the same (without holes) if u remove your door card and look you can see the markins for the speaker all you need then is the pockets

I'm sure his next question would be to ask how or where to get the pockets though?

Where do i get the pockets? Even from an online store or someone who has some to sell.


I have never seen that selling here in Lisbon

Gotta run, so this is a quick reply;

Mine are stock VW. You can still get the parts at any VW dealer, or try the scrapyard to find them cheap.

I'll post a pic later to show what the components look like, plus their part numbers.

It's number 3a on the list. You'll also want #5.

There's another bit that goes behind the external speaker pod, or at least I thought there were two pieces. The one you see in the pic (3a) and a speaker holder that screws into the door. Unfortunately, I can't find it... The part above only protects the speaker, it does not hold it in place.

So i'll go over to my VAG Dealer and we'll try to figure out if there is any part missing.

If I understand correctly I need 3A (part number 6N0 867 134 B), part 5 (6N0 867 149) and a speaker mount, part number to inquire. Correct?

Just another question, that is the mounting of this all. These pods are attached to the doorcard by screws? Or do i mount it over it? If it wasn't raining i would go check it out. But when guess when i get the parts I'll figure it out.

Speedlaw - what program/software/application is that? Looks cool!

That's it Pedro, the external pod is screwed to the door card from the inside or the back of the card, while the speaker pod itself (part number unknown) is screwed into the metal of the door.

The program is what VW dealers use to determine which parts they need. I don't really have it, obviously. I found this pic on the internet somewhere.

oh what a shame. If only you can get hold of that software somewhere?
