What would you choose?

Right, I've been thinking about stuff I want to get for my car for next year's show season. I've got a couple of (subtle) ideas and this is one of them but I really can't work out whether or not it's worth doing.
The GT and G40 came with a black vinyl number plate surround on the tailgate. Mine, being a GT, came with one but when i got the car it was peeling off so I got rid and haven't thought much about it since.
Recently however, I'm wondering if I should've replaced it or if I should go for a little colour coding. So based on the following options what would you choose?
Option 1:

Restore the standard look, and get a black surround.
Option 2:

Leave it as it is now... black grab handle and no surround, Polo CL style.
Option 3:

Go for the modern look, get the grab handle colour coded and leave the surround off.
Bear in mind that being a GT it has the black plastic wheel arch extensions and my bumpers, door handles and boot spoiler are still black.

I took the vinyl surround off mine as it was cracking, I got a new grab handle too from vag parts as the old one was looking mouldy and didn't clean up well. It's now nice and shiney
I can get a close up pic if you want.

I really am gonna have to keep an eye out for your car, I've never seen it about!
Isn't that the same as mine though? I soaked my grab handle in caravan cleaner and scrubbed it till the moss came off... it was almost green when I bought it!

It probably would be the same then, sorry I'm tired!!
I've only had it for a few weeks and not driven it a huge deal, only the odd trip over to cathays/town area.
I'll be driving it a lot more once it's been serviced too

I'll keep an eye out then... I always snap local GT/G40/modified Polos so if I see it you'll know about it!

By removing the vinyl did you have to get the boot resprayed or does it just clean up with a heat gun and some t-cut, as my plastic is peeling badly. My gt didn't have the plastic on when i bought it, obviously been rearended.

You can remove the glue, I used Autoglym tar remover. I wasn't sure if it would damage the paint but it's been fine and plus it's hidden under the plate anyway

Not necessarily, since most peel off anyway it's probably just been removed at some point.
Mine cleaned up fine, but I've had a respray anyway so it's sort of irrelevant!

Mine's in bodyshop now, we (well a mate!!!) has filled in the boot lock so that is now smoothed over, and the full length is being colour coded. I shall put sum pics up wen I get it bak

I'm torn between colour coded grab handle and no trim behind plate, or possibly even go with trim and colour coding...

well that merely means you then have a reason to chrome the rest of it
