Changed clocks now oil buzzer comes on.

I've got a '95 Polo and have fitted a clock set from a mk3 Golf. Everything works fine except after half a mile the oil light and buzzer come on and stay on. I've tried refitting the original clocks and they don't come on. The original clocks are VDO the new Motometer. All help gratefully received
