ok now, i dont care to go down the heavy-cutting beesting route, i just wanna replace my oldskool retro wing-mounted one that i feel suits the car perfectly fine thanks

its always been a bit crap, but this weekend it's breathed it's last, it's been bent over 80 degrees by some marauding halloween balloons at all of 25mph, and putting it back upright has caused a nice big rent that's almost broke it off. pushed it down as much as possible to mask the damage, but it wont fully retract any more

planning to get a "new" one off a scrappy or somewhere, anywhere. how does it come off? i tried giving it an exploratory unscrew by hand and that doesnt seem the way..

There's a nut on the bottom of it. You have to remove the plastic wheel arch lining (should just bolt off if it's anything like mine), then just remove the nut holding it on beneath the wing. Whatever you do, don't overtighten the new arial when you bolt it to the wing, as it's quite easy to buckle the wing with a bit too much pressure :?
I believe haynes has fitting instructions for wing mounted arials, it's how I replaced mine - my first ever job on the car :) It came with a rusty coathanger after some chavs snapped the old one  Got a roof mounted jobbie now though after a truck forced me into a hedge and broke the replacement arial. Not too much hassle to fit, but couldn't get the cable down the door pillar so it's a bit bodged up
