A turbodiesel car in a mainstream worldwide racing game? I think i'll have to save a little money aside to get a new slimline PS2 and GT4 JUST for that
Would like to see them get some more "classic" non-japanese ordinary-persons sporting road cars in - i'll be watching this with interest now.
Yknow... Alfasud, Pug 205, GTi mk2, XR3i... 1100cc Panda 4x4 for the rally stage... you know... that sort of thing. It's not like they don't have the storage capacity (i have my doubts whether GT3 even used a dual-layer disc..)
That picture looks awesome, though it appears Sony/Polyphony Digital STILL haven't got the hang of the anti-aliasing. And more's the pity, they naturally won't license it for Xbox or the Cube, where it would look even more gobsmacking (full screen de-jagging as standard, etc)

you mean like this one?
hehehe
hmm yknow somehow at 1000x1350 i doubt that's an in-game shot!
still the rest of them look cool (even though there's a LOT of repeats), and it seems the lupo one is the only pic where they were having trouble with jaggies (whether they're over detailed static renders rather than actual ingame shots, who knows? gotta see it in motion with someone playing rather than FMV!).
however the over-harsh lighting still remains, as does the very limited PS2 texture memory in full effect - if you look
closely.. not as glaring as before. Looks like some nice courses there!
and of course... highlights
well thats one demand satisfied!
plus a renault 5, and a lancia delta.... and, wierdly - a mitsu evo and a scooby BOTH on british plates??
looks like they're really playing up the rally side of it, hope it's a lot more fixed and involving than in any of the previous 3 (where it was a dull, overly difficult sideline that wasnt even as engaging long-term as the enduros)
edit: linky this time
http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/20 ... een058.jpg good lord if that's the detail level that's going to be doing 25fps in-game, i'm buying it just as visual wallpaper and a tech/coding demo...

ok, now they're just showing off. if they can get that moving at full speed on a ps2 it'll be hella impressive.
quite a good range of cars, and i like the look of the mountainside southern european coastal town thing....
warning! chav invasion! and they're wearing sunglasses after dark!
not only a gorge classic alpine, but a see thru one!
lookit all that properly reflective chrome!
DAMN
when i'm walking through Shibuya, feel like
singing "halleluiah!"even though there's limited space (for camera placement)
where's the tick when you need him?
mum's been to halfords
before you die, you see...
the ring
is that
inspector gadget's car?
and finally, time for a
RIGHTEOUS ABARTHING. Stealthy sleeper style of course. =goes off to watch Castle of Cagliostro again=
(
wtf?)
It's times like these i feel the real benefit of that £25 a month on quick broadband

though the computer does seem to be telling me it's time for a memory upgrade - had to close that page now as it was starting to act up!

Deek.
Cheers Deek. That'll actually work out quite nicely what with Christmas coming up fast and all. I'll have to get a PS2 for Christmas with a copy of GTA: VC then eh? Time to sweet-talk the parents!
EDIT: Is that a VW W12 at the front of the group of cars in this pic? Looks familiar!

Youre right about gt3 its less than 4gig. I was pissed off with gt3 with the lack of used cars. One of my favourites from GT1 and to some extent 2 (but less so) was a late 80s supra. proper fookin bo. All we got on gt3 was a toyota corolla! (that sprinter trueno thing)
Hopefully GT4 will rectify this situation

The only three "new" cars i ever got and saved in GT2 without winning them were a Chevy Camaro Z/29 (1968) - bloody classic and cheap too, a Fiat Coupe (just plain stupid FWD fun - get the back out on the handbrake whilst jamming the throttle, the most controllable play-around possible in GT), and of course the 500 (great for wasting a useless afternoon with, either unmodded and snail-racing your brother (or the 2x powerful cinquentos), or tricked out to about 5x it's original HP).
All the other new ones were just too pricey - and far too many nice used oddities in the japanese used section. Needs a euro/US used section though!
(still attempting from time to time to get the Subaru 300 micro-car, pops up once every 100 days in the used section apparently.. check there every "day"!)
wonder if gt4 will have the drag strip and f1 type races that were dropped from GT2? (and 3???)

Drag strip? I dont remember that on GT1. I bought loads of new cars on GT2 so I could get 100% completion cos of all those stupid manufacturers cups. But in both GT1 and 2 the first car I bought was one of those supras with a 3 litre turbo (MA70) or 2.5 twin. (JZA70)
Can you tell I like those cars?

enough that i might be prepared to de-mothball the PSX and give 'em a whirl..
middle aged perpetual ladette who worked the hotel for a while had a 3.0 one of them and though i never got to ride in it, it looked gorge and she liked it plenty
