How to make sure surface is clean?

Well I was wondering with what I can use or do to make sure the surface is absolutely clean before like applying a new sticker, badge or any parts to my car?

Use Autoglym 'Crease and glue remover' ( i think thats the corect name)
Worked a treat when i was replacing my rear badge ! . . although my banner pic doesnt show it DOH !

Crease remover eh..wonder if it will work on my jumper

Put the dummy back in little boy i was only trying to be helpfull, Posting it in the relevant forum also means that when people look in here for a D.I.Y guide to help them with a job they don't have to sift through "How do i?" posts.

correct me if i'm wrong but this is the 'car care' section, not a DIY Guide section ? so only DIY guides and not questions on car care meant to be posted here
