Drilled and grooved are good as they exspell heat and water, i my self would go for drilled as they look better and a polo aint ever gonna be fast enough to need amazing braking!

get some carbon discs ala F1- they will stop you. :)

yeah I heard rumour that under a lot of heavy breaking you get differential temperatures near to the holes (cos they cool down quicker than the surrounding metal), so you may get cracks.

have you seen the 'Rotordiscs'? they look pretty weird...

Things to consider - just experience

Drilled is fine but

- balancing is a real t**t to get right and the one thing you don't want is holes through the webbing in the middle on a vented disc

- It makes the brakes slightly noisier

- make sure any set you buy are countersunk (it stops the cracks)

Slotted or Grooved are better than drilled (IMHO) but

- Balancing is more consistant

- It makes the brakes very noisy compared to std and Drilled

- It generates more brake dust and eats pads

Both have the added advantage that if done properly you have an instant guide to when the discs need replacing as the countersinking and grooves should not go below the minimum thickness recommneded for the disc

However a bigger brake set up (combined with an increase in tyre profile) is far better if you are serious about improving the stopping performance of your car
