Day trip- Driving to Germany SKN to tune our cars.

Im thinking the SKN in UK charges £450 for a chip on my POLO sport. In germany it is 450 Euros, thats around £310 pounds. That 140 pounds that we save can be used to go Germany.
Im planning to go sometime next year. Would anyone be interested on doing a DAY CRUISE to Germany SKN and chipping their cars?

We can test our cars MAX speed on motorway too! Can drive as fast as you want - NO SPEED LIMITS!!! WOO HOO!
I CHECKED WITH DVLA, you have to be 21 or over to drive abroad otherwise it is illegal. So im planning to go after my 21st Birthday in march.

Not me then - I'm only gonna be 18 by next Monday. Woohoo!

really?
Thats what my friend said anyway and he checked DVLA, he may be wrong, but it does make sense. You have to be like 21 in order to rent cars aswell.
And 21 to go in some strip clubs!

The driving age limit in France and Germany is 18 (or one years driving experience.)
Don't get me wrong, but if your so worried about the cost why are you considering spending about £300 more in payment/fuel/accomodation expenses
You may as well just stop at Dover and pop into Scotts...
You get 10% off straight away from Scotts anyway. So thats £45.00 knocked off already, I'm sure if you rang them they'd go a few quid more.

But 18 is kinda adult-ish and that we've got license, insurance and the car. So why is that illegal then?! Seems bit stupid.

First of all you have to inform your insurance company! and whether they will allow for an 18yr old is another thing.

You're probably right. I'm gonna have to pay the price of the ferry, but the ferry isnt that expensive?? only about 20 pound per car. And the other reason is the petrol in germany is much cheaper. Accomodation is not bad - £20 per night approx. The main reason is the motorways- no speed limit.
I guess there are benefits getting it from Scotts, But wouldnt really be able to test the chip unless I go to a private track?? I'll have to see if anyone else is up for it.
But knowing 10% off is pretty ok!

yes, u definately have to inform ur insurance company when using car abroad.
