Where is the wash/wipe control unit?

I have a Hella kit to fit to my car, and need to find out where the standard relay for the wash/wipe system is located (as the kit I have has a relay/module that plugs in in place of the standard item). I have consulted the Haynes comic, but its been absolutely useless. Maybe anyone with ETKA could find an exploded diagram?

the wash wipe intermittant relay is located above the fuse box on a mk1 & 2 so it may well be in the same position on the mk3

Tahrey he has the hella raintronic kit...he never has to flick a stalk control again :-D *"he never has to flick a stalk control again" refers to wiper control only...never using indicators could result in confusion and or death*

I thought the relay was under the dashboard on the left hand side? :? You have to remove the six screws which hold the wee shelf in below the glove box to get at it though. There are 4 relays in there  , but a dont know which one is the wipers. but you cold use the haynes comic wiring diagram and work it out using the wire colours. Might take a bit of time standing on your head though!

let us know if the kit is any good as a might buy one if its not mega bucks (hella and mega bucks usually go together). :D

I think its there also, if you switch an indicator on karl you can here the relay clicking down there so the others should be too.

I shall have a look round there. Makes plugging the kit in a lot easier, as I thought I might have had to route the wire through the bulkhead into the plenum chamber. I can do a DIY guide on it if all goes to plan. Its a case of plug and play, however, it takes a bit of initial learning (the kit needs to determine the tint on the windscreen, and positioning, etc), then you need to do a bit of wet weather driving for the kit to become fully accostomed.

Karl the part numbers for the wash wipe relays are:-

191 955 531 < control unit adjustable wash wipe

3b0 955 531 < control unit adjustable wash wipe automatic

So when the relay you pull out has one of those on it you have the right one...By the way it should be number 9 second from the left 8)

Hope that helps

Ahhh, good ol' ETKA! Thanks for that. I shall have a gander tomorrow when the effects of the Staff night out have fully receeded.

 considering thats where all general clicky noises (indicators, rear washwipe, fuel pump etc) come from, it makes sense!

so the shelfy thing is held to the box by 6 screws? think i just read a way there to get my wires to permanently stay tidily out of sight (as even heavy duty carpet tape cant convince them to hold still!)

For any of you interested. Fitted the kit yesterday (still need to get it acustomed to the British weather, but can only do that whilst driving), and hope this guide may be of some use to you.
