just done the sums

i put 33.91 litres in my car at 81.9p for £27.77 this morning

using 1 gallon being 4.545 litres

that equates to 7.46 gallons

I'd done 237 miles from the last full tank (was down to just before the white blobs of the last quater)

so thats 31.8 mpg

another case of driving half a tank doing 160 ish miles and then the second half of the tank dissapearing in 50 miles...

was doing good, non racy driving untill yesturday when I did an 85 mpg jaunt home and a 90+ mph jaunt back to town, with lots of hammering it from the lights and what not in a great hurry last night (which is where the second half of my tank went)

i think the best i've got out of mine is around 40mpg when i did just 70 on the motorways for hours on end in the summer

i'd guess i usually get 36 mpg on average

i'm sure thats dropped since the k&n - even on "taking it easy" runs

never mind eh.... mpg isn't great for me either at the mo....

best i have had at the 1/2 tank mark is 225 miles..... the last one was 170  which was town driving with super unleaded.

and the second half goes in about 140 - 120 on the motorway before the fuel light goes on....

so it goes from 40mpg to 28mpg depending on various styles!

(1.4 16v)

I can get about 260 miles out of a full tank of fuel in my GTi, which is mixed driving, probably 1/3rds fast raod driving, 2/3rds town. When I'm running my favoured BP Ultimate, I've seen up to 280 miles out of a tankful. Bottom line, Ultimate gives me roughly 37-38mpg on a regular basis. Can't be bad

If you're doing 280 miles on a full tank, how is that 37-38mpg?

if it's a 10 gallon tank - 38mpg is 380 miles (342 or 9 gallons before the light comes on)

Dunno maybe my maths is out

Last BP Ultimate fill was £32.50 for approximately 34 litres of fuel IIRC, so 34 litres @ 91.9 (I think!) for £32.50 = 7.48 gallons, 280 miles = 37.43 mpg?

I forgot to ask for a VAT receipt last time I got fule so don't have the price per litre to hand, but it was definitely 91.something I'm sure of it. And at least 34 litres of fuel... next time I'll get the right receipt!
