Hi there,

I'm new! Just to say hi, I've got MK4 Polo 1.4 CL.

Also, I had a small bump at the front of my car and my bumper buckled and I smashed my passenger headlight.

I've got a replacement but I'm not sure how the hell to fit it!

Would anyone be able to explain?

Many thanks,

Alex

undo all the nut things on the top - you'll need a torque wrench

you cant get a cheap set from focus stores, think mine was like a fiver if that

then you need to either get some sorta long screw driver under the light to get the nut underneith the light undone, by lifting the light and messing about hoping you can line it all up and turn it

or take your sodding bumper off to get that botton bolt....

Whenever you have a bump your headlight always seems to smash!

What you need to do is remove the indicators (both of them) by removing 7mm (I think) bolt that holds your indicator in place onto the light unit ,then remove the wiring conector from the back of the indicator light. Slide the indicator forward and remove it. Y

Next remove the grill assembly and the grill surround, the grill is held in place by plastic clips, and the surround will come away by undoing the 7mm nuts under the indicators

Next undo the two torx bolts on top of the light unit, the undo the torx bolt at the bottom of the light unit, you will need the screwdriver type as the head of a socket is too wide to fit through. Remove the headlight.

Put your existing bulbs into the headlight, however check they are okay, the might have blown.

When refitting ensure all the locating lugs on the back of the light unit fit in place. Then put everything back together the way it came apart.

Crack open a beer and admire your shiny new headlight! The otherone may need cleaning.

Fantastic, got it sorted, just need to get the bumper sorted as thats not quite as important as broken glass on the front of the car!

Cheers,

Alex
