Central Locking Help...

My central locking has been playing up recently.

Since i started my ICE install, it's failing to work properly.

I used to be able to open up all the doors by turning the key towards the open position when put in the drivers door.

Now, when i turn the key the first time towards the open position, it opens only the drivers door. I then have to turn the key to the closed position again, and then back to open, then all the doors open up.

Can someone explain why the car is doing this? It's really getting on my nerves now, VW build quality, with yet so many problems.

Quick update:-

I've got the same problem on both the doors. I think it may be like this from the factory. Can someone confirm this please?

Where if you unlock the door once, only that door opens, if you close it again and unlock it, all the doors open.

What happens if you hold the key in the open position for a bit longer do athe other doors open?

Some yank cars operate like that

Nup, the windows open.

Clever little system VW have done to alot of their cars.

If you hold the key in the open position even after the doors have opened, the windows will open. If you hold it in the close position after the doors have closed, the windows will close.

Bet you didn't know that

Silly thing, it's kinda p!ssin me off!

Maybe its been adjusted to do that. I know that some of the later cars (not specifically VW) only open the drivers on the first unlock. Its to prevent theives hiding by the passenger side in dark car parks, they wait till you unlock and just as you get in, then open the passenger side and swipe your handbag / briefcase / daughter / shopping.

I always make sure my doors are locked whilst driving too.
