If you're going to do your xmas shopping this week (bad idea anyway) don't take your car.

Every crazed, overworked, overstretched middle-aged women in the world will be out in their Clios and Focuses this week, ready to tail-end your car or fill it with door dings (believe me, small but extremely irritating accidents happened to me three (!) times over the years around christmas, two with my old Fiesta and once with me brother's 206).

Top shopping centre parking tip: never EVER park your Polo next to the following cars: Renault Espace - Renault Scénic - Chevrolet/Opel/Vauxhall Zafira - Fiat Doblò - any Ford or Chevrolet SUV - any strange-looking japanese car (Nissan Murano comes to my mind).

These are 100% guaranteed damage to your side panels. Scénics usually carry a number of children (ages 7-12) who are the most prone to open the doors with unusual force for their age.

By strange-looking Jap cars I mean their grey-import compact people-carriers.

Coooooold  I was washing the car earlier and the water was freezing as I did it.. actually had to break through the ice to wash the bodywork.. your clothes would just turn instantly into a solid lump of ice

2 months old?

er..... warm colourful clothing should cover it. a romper suit perhaps. you'll get brownie points for thoughtfulness to boot.

xmas shopping in the car? no fear. unless of course it's into ASDA on the way to dads next monday (pleaaaaase tell me they'll be open in spite of it being a bank-holiday-in-lieu)......

i'll be doing it by train thankee very much, on the way back from work tomorrow. if still not done by tuesday - parking well out of the way on a cul-de-sac side street (no major shopping traffic, very little "through" traffic other than residents). lucky that my town is laid out in such a shape.

dont ever park such that a mate's orion is set up just nicely to t-bone your car in reverse by the way, because it WILL happen eventually, particularly if you do it a few times on the trot - your car will, after a few repetitions, blend into the landscape for them and you're just asking for trouble. never mind a few scratches, how about complete demolition of the passenger door? :D

a very loud, obnoxious and overly motion-sensitive alarm is good for these seasons i think --- someone bangs their door into you, it goes off, and all eyes are suddenly on them!

and hmmm, when i wrote about the log flume, it was almost - almost, mind - warm outside. nipped out for a cheeky half or three on the whim of an unexpected text and it's brassic out there, especially as i dressed suitable for the earlier conditions. hit the car with some pre-emptive anti-icer stuff, but no matter what i tried, cant get the washer jets to fire!

ha one of the sensors has come loose on the a pillar so if the car gets knocked/shaken, the sensor shakes and the alarm which is veeeryyyy loud and vvveeryyyyy obnoxious and veeeeeryyyyyy ear piercingly to the point of bleeding goes off! :D

Snow lying on the road here... Bloody freezing too.

Fabia is awesome in the snow.

I love torque.

The GTi wouldn't have got up my hill tonight. The Fabia breezed up it in 2nd at 1.25k rpm hehehehe.

I don't like being cold!

We haven't had any snow here that I've seen, but if you drive about 10 miles south its like a scene from the front of a Christmas card apparently!

Who's got money on snow on Saturday? Hah, bumhug!
