The heater fan's travels

I can't get any heat from the fan inside the car to come out of the big exits on the dash. You know the ones, adjustable for your hands and face? I can only get it to come out of the strip exit for clearing the window, is heat SUPPOSED to come out of the other exits or what? Or should I do some investigating along the air ducts to see if any ducts are disconnected?

Thanks

In 'Don Polio', only the windscreen position & the foot position would blow hot air for me aswell (thinking its a 'VDub ting')

Cheers.

Hot air should come out of all of the exits when the engine is warm and it is set to the hot position, of course.

I usually have it set half way between the feet blower and the windscreen blower and hot air comes out of both at the same time, plus a bit out of the dash vents.

If you have it fully on the dash vents, on full power, the air feels quite cold, as it's coming out so fast.

EDIT: OKay, I've just been for a ride out and thought I'd try it, and I was wrong. Hot air air only comes out of the foot part and the windscreen part. Slightly warm air comes out of the dash vents. However, the little vent above the dash vents expells warm air, even if the blower is set to cold.

the "big" airvents never blow out hot air. it just comes out of the little ones that demist the quarter windows.

yup - face vents blow cold only

which is a perfectly sane idea and good for driver safety - unless you're really freezing cold that is! :D means you can get the cockpit nice and warm but still have a refreshing breeze on your mush.

(most modern cars have a switch for the face vents to be purely cold independently of the other settings, or to assume the same temperature as the rest of the circuit)

what i'm concerned about meself is how difficult and bad-sounding it is to turn the vent selector across the "feet" position, between the "screen" and "face" sides, like something's jamming it almost... its a new thing, too.
