Now I have had my 2001 GTi for 1,5 week. I have been reading a lot about gearbox problem here on the site and want to ask you all a question; I am having problems getting the first gear in smoothly. It kinda get stuck in the middle. The next time I try it gets smoothly...
Maybe I shouldn´t be so rough putting the first gear in, but on my prior 5 cars this hasn´t been a problem, so... have anyone else had the same problem?

I sometimes (still - after 2 new gearboxes) have problems selecting 1st...

However, if you are getting a squeak when engaging or releasing your clutch as well as trouble getting it into gear, then go and get it checked out - It's most likely your pedal box.

Hope you are enjoying your GTi (apart from the problem listed above!)

Have you made any modifications to it? What colour is it?

My car looks pretty much the same as yours:-) I am thinking of lowering it too... Inside I am working on my stereo...
