i was wandering if i was the only person who feels on edge when theres a few people looking at my car because im always worried that there tring to steel it but then again at the same time i enjoy having somthing that other people aspire to because theres a lad near here with a 3 door who has just ordered lowering kit, wheels, exaust, tint, hes doing his handles. i suppose i should feel like hes copying me but i dont because i find it flattering. and than theres that feeling every morning when i go oout side to drive to work and no matter how much of a rush im in i always stop for a second to look at my car and it makes me feel so proud that its somthing ive sculpted
so please tel me am i just shallow and attentioin seeking
or
do other people feel proud when there car is getting adored

Not really gets me from A to B plus it's standard so it's the factory that should get the credit. Perhaps if I restored a 63 Karmann Ghia Convertible then I'd be proud, I just can't say the same thing for a 2002 Polo.

Unfortunately, pretty much everyone I know personally knows of my experiences of the car - those that to ride in it get to share in some of that experience.

So, it doesn't make me proud most of the time. In some respects I'm ashamed of my inability to have rejected it or got the dealer to get rid of the rattles and microbubbles (they're both back ).

However, with strangers and after it's just been washed, it's a different story. I do believe that, even though it's only a polo and they've turned out to be as common as muck, it projects a certain "image".

For example, last night walking back to my car - parked all by itself across the far side of Tesco's car park and across two bays, I was following some students walking back to their car. Saw that they were looking over to it and managed to catch one saying "yeah, they look really good in black."

So, for those few seconds, I was extremely proud of my baby. Then, I got in it and rattled my way home....

(I am still proud enough of it to currently be saving for some Zymol - to extend that "just washed" image-projection phase)

But is it your car that you're proud of, or the work that you've done to it?

Are you more proud of it now, than when it was standard?

If you want the just washed finish you definately have to go for Concours, it's worth the extra pennys, sorry pounds.

Have to agree that the proudness comes from what you have created or turned it into.
I am probably more proud of my Golf than my Polo, for 2 reasons. I have done (and doing) more work to the Golf myself and secondly the Golf has been less hassel than the Polo (which I have sadly more than once thought of changing for a Lupo GTi).

im proud of what the polo is as standard but possibly more so im proud of what ive made it by trying to make her bolder
its just that feeling when you see your car in a sea of cars at the super market with yours being the only modified one there and it brings a smile to your face, or even when you park somewhere and when you come back and see a few other cars parked round yours and realise that there not stealing your stuff, they just want to look at your car.

I'm proud of my car, but its the feeling of telling someone you own a Polo, then seeing the look on thier face when they see the car thats the best. I know i haven't done any of the work myself, but i've worked the hours and put in the effort to pay for what i've got. the look on peoples faces when they see the car makes all that effort worthwhile.

Also, leaving my house each morning and looking at the car on the drive brings a smile to my face, seeing all the hard work pay off.

I feel the same 2k, a bit on edge when I see people around it, but also a bit proud! Especially when a 1.8T A3 asked me "is it a GTi cos you were with me down those lanes." when in a petrol garage

I'm not exactly proud of my car as it's still pretty much standard and there are a lot of them around in my country. Plus people confuse it with the Gol all the time! - and they're actually similar if seen from the back, I must admit...

However, I can never resist the urge to have a second look at my Polo when I park it. Especially as it's soooo waxed right now.

I was very proud of my 1997 Zetec Fiesta because until the model was facelifted in 1999 or 2000 (can't remember) people always though it was months old, not years. Even though I'd spent most of the 5 years I had it driving the car hard, and everywhere, and all the time. Went places in it. We'd had many moments together, see?

Maybe in 5 years time I'll be as proud of my Polo as I was of that little Ford. If only the dash plastics stopped rattling like maracas...

BTW as you can see I tend to keep my cars for a long time.

That has to do with the fact that I'm Brazilian and therefore always strapped for cash.

It also has to do with the fact that I like to bond with my cars. Otherwise I'd just drive a succession of 2-year-old used cars. But that wouldn't be the same thing, don't you agree?

I am proud of my car after putting some new wheels on. I'm getting jealous looks from other Polo drivers with standard Melbornes.

My proudest car was the Audi A3, loved that car to bits and still miss it so much. Happy to know it is in save hands and I do see it sometimes.

i think in the last 20 min i borught a new meaning to proud;]
i had just come out of work and decided that since its over 30 degreeas that i would roll both front windows down and drive like that but then a top tune came on so i wound that up and the looks on peoples faces was amazing and people giving me thumbs up, there were even a couple of lasses who i rounded a bend to see one of them with her fingers in her ears (sorry ) but then i pulled across a junction to see a classic car rally waiting for the green light (about 10 cars) and every one of them gave me the thumbs up

i know its immature but i felt so proud that i have created somthing on vw`s ideas that makes people stop and look then drop their jaw
