Mottled paintwork

The alpine white paintwork on my dear old mk2 is lovely (bar the stone chips, parking dents, cat claw scratches and the odd bit of rust starting to poke through  Still pretty good considering it's had 18 years of abuse..) but it oxidises really quickly and goes a dull mottled colour instead of the original bright white that it should be. T-cut is great at cleaning it up, but it's oxidised again within a month, particularly on the bonnet and the roof. I always wax it after I've t-cut it, and I usually clean it with car shampoo in the hope that it'll stop it happening, but it always does. Can anyone recommend a way to prevent it? I'm beginning to worry about the amount of paint I'm taking off with all the t-cutting I've been doing!

Just to add, given that the paintwork's never going to be absolutely perfect anyway I don't want to spend vast amounts of money on it (especially given the amount of money the MoT man's about to make me spend  ) or have to spend an entire day cleaning and polishing every week.. just looking for something nice and simple that I can do to preserve the paintwork a bit better :)
